▲ 거창군은 6월 호국보훈의 달을 맞아 ‘거창사건 추모의 길 걷기 행사’를 개최한다.

[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군은 6월 호국보훈의 달을 맞아, 오는 16일 오후 2시 30분부터 5시까지, 거창사건추모공원에서 ‘거창사건 추모의 길 걷기 행사’를 개최한다.

 

이번 행사는 한국전쟁 당시 민간인이 희생된 비극적인 사건인 ‘거창사건’의 역사적 진실을 널리 알리고, 희생자들을 추모하기 위해 마련됐다.

 

특히, 거창사건의 진실을 평화와 인권의 시각에서 되새기고자 하는 취지로 기획됐으며, 신원면 지역 기관단체를 비롯해 거창사건희생자유족회, 한국승강기대학교 학생들, 경남도립거창대학 학생들, 맨발걷기운동본부 거창지회 등 약 80명이 참여할 예정이다. 이번 행사는 누구나 별도의 신청 없이 자유롭게 참가할 수 있다.

 

걷기 코스는 추모공원 내 주요 명소를 중심으로 구성됐다. 행사장에서 모래 및 고령토 맨발길, 무궁화 명소길, 위령탑 등 역사와 자연이 어우러진 추모의 길을 걸으며, 참가자들은 거창사건의 아픔과 함께 역사와 자연이 전하는 깊은 울림을 체감할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 

 

또한, 거창사건의 의미와 희생자들의 아픔을 널리 알리기 위한 홍보부스도 역사교육관 앞 광장에서 운영될 예정이다. 

 

김춘미 거창사건사업소장은 “이번 행사는 단순한 추모의 의미를 넘어 거창사건에 대한 역사교육의 장이자 평화와 생명의 가치를 되새기는 뜻깊은 시간이 될 것”이라며 “미래를 살아갈 군민과 청년들이 참여해 역사의 교훈을 함께 나누길 바란다”고 말했다.
