[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남교육청이 장기 입원이나 통원 치료로 학업에 어려움을 겪는 건강장애학생들의 학습권 보장을 위해 전담 지원체계를 구축했다.

 

경상남도교육청은 8일 창원시 마산회원구 내서중학교 별관동에 ‘건강장애학생 학습지원센터’를 개소하고 본격 운영에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.

 

건강장애학생은 만성질환이나 중증 질환 등으로 3개월 이상 장기 입원 또는 통원 치료가 필요해 정상적인 학교생활과 학업 수행이 어려운 특수교육 대상 학생을 말한다.

 

센터는 내서중 별관동 1~2층을 리모델링해 조성됐으며, 원격수업실 26개와 화상강의실 1개를 비롯해 상담실, 회의실 등 교육지원 공간 11개를 갖췄다.

 

경남교육청은 센터를 통해 건강장애학생의 학습 결손을 최소화하고 치료 이후 학교 복귀를 지원할 계획이다. 주요 지원 내용은 원격수업 운영, 학생별 맞춤형 교육 제공, 심리·정서 지원, 소속 학교와의 연계 교육 등이다.

 

특히 학업 중단 위험에 놓인 학생들이 치료 과정에서도 지속적으로 교육을 받을 수 있도록 하고, 학교 복귀 이후 적응을 돕는 지원체계를 강화하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

 

센터는 민간위탁 방식으로 운영되며 초·중등 과정 전문 강사 27명이 배치된다. 이들은 학생 맞춤형 원격수업과 학교 복귀 프로그램, 진로·진학 상담 등을 담당하게 된다.

 

박종훈 교육감은 “치료로 인해 학업을 중단할 위기에 놓인 건강장애학생들이 교육 기회를 보장받고 안정적으로 학교에 복귀할 수 있도록 학습과 심리·정서 지원을 강화해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
