[브레이크뉴스=하태훈 기자]  하동군이 전국 파크골프 동호인들을 유치하고 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣기 위해 신규 파크골프장 인프라 확충에 나섰다.

 

군은 9월 중 하동읍과 진교면에 새로운 파크골프장을 정식 개장하고, 기존 시설과 연계해 전국적인 명소로 발돋움한다는 계획을 밝혔다.

 

먼저 하동읍에 문을 여는 하동파크골프장은 섬진강의 수려한 경관을 조망하는 명소에 자리했다. 

 

군은 총 20억 원의 사업비를 투입해 2만 2796㎡ 면적에 18홀 규모로 이곳을 조성했으며, 인근 하동송림공원 및 하모니파크와의 연계를 통한 관광 시너지 효과도 기대하고 있다. 

 

현재 9월 초 정식 개장을 목표로 막바지 시설 보완 작업이 한창이다.

 

진교파크골프장 제2구장(18홀)은 지난 4일부터 시범 운영에 들어갔다. 

 

군은 시범 운영 기간 동안 시설을 점검하고 문제점을 보완해 9월 정식으로 개장할 예정이다. 

 

제2구장이 개장하면 기존 18홀 규모의 제1구장과 함께 총 36홀의 대규모 파크골프 단지가 탄생하게 된다.

 

이번 신규 파크골프장 조성은 지역 내 폭발적으로 증가하는 파크골프 수요에 대응하기 위한 것이다. 

 

현재 하동군에는 횡천강변의 횡천파크골프장, 섬진강변의 고전파크골프장, 그리고 기존의 진교파크골프장(제1구장)까지 총 3곳의 18홀 구장이 운영되고 있다. 

 

이들 구장을 중심으로 활동하는 동호인 클럽은 이미 30개에 달하며, 소속 회원 수도 1천여 명을 넘어서며 시설 확충에 대한 요구가 꾸준히 제기되어 왔다.

 

군은 이번 신규 구장 개장을 시작으로 양보·옥종·악양면에도 순차적으로 파크골프장을 조성할 계획이다.

 

하승철 하동군수는 "지리산과 섬진강 등 천혜의 자연경관에 명품 파크골프장을 접목해 세대를 아우르는 체류형 관광인프라를 구축하겠다"며 "이를 통해 생활 인구 유입을 촉진하고 지역 소멸 위기 극복의 발판으로 삼겠다"고 말했다.
