[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원시 성산구 남양초등학교에서 활동하고 있는 남양배드민턴클럽이 창원 엘리트 지도자들을 초청해 12일 친선 배드민턴대회를 개최했다. 

 

이번대회는 정식대회가 아닌 이벤트대회로 최근 인기 상승하고 있는 배드민턴의 저변확대와 홍보를 위해 준비된 대회로 창원에서 활동하고 있는 지도자들의 자발적인 참여로 개최됐다.

 

최근 안세영 선수와 대한민국 대표선수들의 활약에 힘입어 배드민턴 동호인들이 급격히 늘어나고 있으며, 배드민턴에 대한 인기 또한 폭발적으로 늘어나고 있다는 것이 남양클럽 이기호 이사의 말이다.

또 지도자들 간의 경기에서는 웃음기 빠진 진지한 모습으로 경기가 진행돼, 박진감 넘치는 수준높은 경기를 볼 수 있었으며, 선수들의 경기를 직관한 회원들은 박수와 함성으로 선수들을 응원했다.

 

이번 대회를 주최한 박기백 남양클럽 회장은 "평소 건강을 위해 회원들끼리 즐기던 운동을 엘리트 지도자들이 함께 해주셔서 감사드린다"며 "이런 기회를 계기로 회원들이 더 재미있게 운동할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.

엘리트 배드민턴 지도자회 김태식 회장도 "평소 동호인들의 배드민턴에 대한 열정을 잘 알고 있었기에 이런 이벤트대회를 준비하고 있었다"며 "동호인들의 건강한 삶과 배드민턴이 다시 인기 스포츠로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 더 열심히 노력할 것"이라고 말했다.
