[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 지역 교육력 강화를 통해 지역 소멸 위기를 극복하고자 ‘미래교육 혁신모델(G-NEXT) 구축 지원사업’을 올해 본격적으로 추진한다고 16일 밝혔다.

 

미래교육 혁신 모델(G-NEXT)는 경남(G)의 새로운(New) 교육 경험(Edu eXperience)과 혁신(Transformation)으로 미래 사회에 필요한 핵심 역량을 기르고 경남의 특화 자원을 활용하여 혁신적인 교육환경 조성하는 교육모델이다.

 

경남도는 각 학교의 특성과 지역 여건이 반영된 혁신적인 교육모델을 만들 수 있도록 지원하고, 학교가 지역자원을 활용해 저마다 특성을 반영한 특화 프로그램을 구성하면 지자체와 유관기관이 이에 협력하는 등 교육 주체들이 직접 기획하고 운영하는 방식으로 진행된다.

 

교육발전특구 과제와 연계해 경남의 특색있는 교육모델을 개발·확산하는 이 사업은 도내 학교를 대상으로 지난 4월 30일부터 5월 16일까지 공모해 심사한 결과 총 10곳을 선정했다.

 

특히, 교육발전특구가 아닌 지역의 학교도 포함돼 있어 이곳에서도 특구 주요 과제를 연계 추진함으로써 특구 효과는 더욱 확산할 것으로 기대된다.

 

선정된 학교의 주요 프로그램은 △ 학생 주도 융합콘텐츠 제작, 생성형 인공지능(AI) 도구 활용 등 디지털 특화교육 △ 전공 탐색형 독서 활동 및 책을 읽고 질문과 토론을 진행하는 독서 프로그램 △ 국제 인증 교육과정 도입, 외국어 말하기 학습 등 글로벌 교육 △ 학생이 주도하여 지역문제를 탐색하고 해결하는 활동인 지역 미래 프로젝트 등이 있다.

 

윤인국 도 교육청년국장은 “지역을 선도하는 학교 육성으로 경남의 미래를 이끌어갈 인재를 양성하는 계기가 될 것”이라며, “경남도는 이번 사업을 통해 교육발전특구에 버금가는 효과를 경남 전역으로 확산시키고, 나아가 청년 인구 유출 문제 해소에도 기여할 수 있을 것”이라고 밝혔다.

 

한편, 경남도는 사업 종료 후 성과를 분석해 지원 대상을 점진적으로 확대할 계획이며, 학교 간 우수사례를 공유하여 지속 가능한 교육 혁신 모델로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 적극 지원할 예정이다.

 

선정학교는 (창원) 경일여자고등학교, 창원과학고등학교, 창원남고등학교, (사천) 삼천포중앙고등학교, 용남고등학교, (김해) 김해건설공업고등학교, (거창) 거창승강기고등학교, (합천) 초계고등학교, (하동) 옥종고등학교, 진교고등학교 등 10개교다.
