장금용 창원시 제1부시장은 6일 고병원성 조류인플루엔자(이하 AI)가 발생한 주남저수지를 방문하여 통제 현장을 직접 점검했다.

최근 몇 년간 고병원성 AI가 계속 발생하고 있으며 올해도 거창군과 창녕군에 소재한 가금농장에서 고병원성 AI가 발생하는 등 위험성이 해마다 증가하고 있는 추세다.

시는 AI 확산 방지 선제 대응을 위해 지난달 22일부터 주남저수지를 전면 통제하고 있으며, 현장 예찰 활동 중 27일 큰기러기 폐사체를 발견했고 2월 3일 최종 검사 결과 H5N1 고병원성 AI가 확진됐다.

이에 인근 가금농장 피해 예방과 시민의 안전 대응 상황을 살피고자 직접 시찰에 나선 장금용 제1부시장은 주남저수지 입구부터 탐조대, 재두루미 쉼터 등 탐방로 곳곳을 순찰하며 통제소 운영, 방역차량 운행, 방역 요원의 보호장비 착용 등 방역 추진 사항을 집중 점검했다.
