[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 지난 28일 환경부 주관 ‘2024년 공공폐수처리시설 운영·관리 실태평가’에서 ‘우수 지자체’로 선정되었다고 29일 밝혔다.

‘공공폐수처리시설 운영·관리 실태평가’는 환경부가 매년 전국 106개 지자체의 241개 공공폐수처리시설 중 방류 수질이 우수하고 시설물 관리가 뛰어난 지자체를 선정하는 평가다.

시설물의 처리 용량에 따라 3그룹으로 나누어 평가하며 1차 방류수질 평가와 2차 시설물 운영·관리 실적 발표 점수를 합산하여 그룹별 ‘우수지자체’를 선정한다.

창원시 평가 대상시설인 진북일반산업단지 내 오·폐수 처리시설인 「진북공공폐수처리장」에 대하여 방류수 수질기준 및 사업장 안전관리 강화, 처리시설의 효율 향상을 위한 노력의 결과로, 지난해에 이어 올해도 ‘우수 지자체’로 선정됐다. 

홍남표 창원시장은 “산업단지 입주기업에 대한 지원은 물론 산업단지 오·폐수 처리의 엄격한 관리와 폐수처리장 시설물 유지관리로 시민들의 정주 환경과 물 환경 보전에 더욱 최선을 다할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
