[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시 의창구가 30일 경찰청과 중앙일보가 공동 주최하는 ‘제9회 대한민국 범죄예방대상’ 시상식에서 공동체 치안 부문 행정안전부 장관 표창을 수상했다고 밝혔다.

 

대한민국 범죄예방대상은 범죄예방을 위해 적극적으로 활동해 온 지자체와 공공기관, 사회단체를 대상으로 공동체 치안·사회적약자 보호· CPTED(범죄예방디자인) 등 3개 부문으로 나눠 지역의 안전과 치안을 위해 힘쓴 기관과 단체를 선정해 시상한다.

 

이번 공모에서 의창구는 지역 내 공공기관·민간단체·지역주민 등 다양한 주체가 참여하는 지역 공동체 중심의 ‘협업치안’ 시스템을 구축하여 범죄 예방활동을 추진한 점을 높이 평가받았다. 

 

의창구는 주민 21만 3000명의 안전을 도모하는 ‘대한민국 안전 1번지를 꿈꾸다!  안전드림(DREAM) 213! 의창구’라는 슬로건으로 주민 안심과 범죄예방의 효율성을 높이기 위해 의창구청·창원서부경찰서·의창소방서·녹색어머니회가 참석한 ‘치안간담회’를 개최하여 협업체계 구축과 더불어 범죄 발생 요인 제거에 힘쓰고 있다.

또한 ▲어린이집 지도점검 및 보육교사 역량 교육 ▲폭력피해 여성·아동 보호 및 지원사업 ▲성범죄 예방 민간체육시설 모니터링 사업 ▲꿈실현 공부방 만들기 지원사업 등을 통해 사회적 약자 계층 보호를 위한 치안복지 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.

 

이와 같이 다양한 사업 추진으로 新유형 범죄 예방·대응체계 구축을 위한 지역사회간 연계 강화와 주민 밀착형 치안정책 추진 결과, 관내 5대 범죄(살인, 강도, 강간·강제추행, 절도, 폭력) 발생 건수는 2019년 1,925건에서 2023년 1,501건으로 22% 줄어드는 등 감소추세를 보이고 있다.
