[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 8일 창원컨벤션센터에서 제30차 가야문화권 지역발전 시장·군수협의회 정기회의를 개최했다고 밝혔다.  

 

가야문화권 지역발전 시장·군수협의회는 가야문화권 지역 시장과 군수들로 구성된 협의체로, 전북·전남·대구·경북·경남 등 5개 광역단체 24개 시·군이 함께하는 것으로 2005년 2월 출범해 가야문화를 통한 공동 발전방안을 모색하고, 가야 역사문화의 역량 강화, 지역 자원을 활용한 영호남 권역 공동 발전 등을 목적으로 하고 있다.  

 

이날 회의에는 홍남표 창원특례시장을 비롯한 조근제 함안군수 등 24개 단체장 및 지자체 관계자 100여 명이 참석했으며, 2025년 상반기 정기회의 개최지를 거창군으로 선정하고 협의회 소속 시‧군들의 가야문화권 관련 자체 사업 추진을 확인했다. 

 

또한, 찾아가는 가야문화유산 교육프로그램 운영과 제10기 협의회 의장 선출도 이루어졌다. 이를 통해 지역 간 교류 협력을 강화하고 가야문화 정체성 확립을 도모할 것으로 기대된다.  

 

홍남표 창원시장은 환영사에서 “가야사와 관련하여 창원 지역 대표 유적인 ‘창원 다호리 고분군’의 시굴 조사가 진행되고 있으며, 석동터널 공사 시 국내 최대 규모의 고분군 ‘창원 석동유적’이 발견되어 전시관 개관을 앞두고 있다”며, “창원지역의 가야유적에 대한 조사 성과들을 축적하여 지역의 역사적 정체성을 확립하고 시민들과 나누기 위한 노력을 기울여 갈 것이다”고 말했다.
