[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 28일부터 29일 마산체육관 등에서 경남신문사배 배드민턴대회를 개최했다고 29일 밝혔다.

올해로 13회를 맞이한 이번 대회는 배드민턴을 생활체육으로 보급·확산에 기여하고 동호인 간의 유대 강화하기 위해 경남신문이 주최하고 창원시배드민턴협회 주관, 창원특례시‧창원시체육회의 후원으로 개최됐다.

경기는 엘리트부, 20대~60대 연령별로 나뉘어 남자복식·여자복식·혼합복식이 진행되었으며 400팀 800명이 출전했다.

홍남표 창원특례시장은 “이번 대회가 동호인 간의 화합을 도모하고 지역 체육발전의 밑거름이 되는 축제의 장이 되길 바란다”며 “한 분도 부상 없이 즐거운 마음으로 멋진 경기를 펼쳐 주시기 바란다”고 말했다.

또한, 개회식에는 배드민턴 발전에 기여하고 위상을 드높인 공로자와 심폐소생술로 생명을 구한 분께 공로패 및 특별시상을 수여해 훈훈한 분위기를 더했다.
