이번 조직개편은 민선 8기 핵심 공약사업의 실행력 확보를 위해 전략적 추진체계를 구축하고, 특히 거창군의 미래 성장 50년을 내다보는 신산업 발굴 등 지속 가능한 미래 거창을 만드는 데 주안점을 뒀다.

 

기존의 2국(행정복지국, 경제산업국)에서 1국을 신설해 행정국, 경제복지국, 안전건설국의 3국으로 재편해 책임 국장제를 운영하고, 군민이 공감하는 혁신행정과 군민이 체감하는 조직으로 변모하겠다는 의지를 담았다.
