[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 22일 오전 사천 삼천포대교공원에서 자연보호헌장 선포 44주년을 기념하고, 자연보호운동의 참여 활성화를 위한 ‘제25회 경상남도지사기 자연보호 경진대회’를 개최했다.

자연보호경진대회는 자연보호 의식을 확산해 깨끗한 자연을 후손들에게 물려주기 위해 1978년 선포된 자연보호헌장의 정신을 실천하기 위한 행사로, 자연보호경진대회을 비롯한 환경운동은 기후변화, 환경문제 해결은 미룰 수 없는 과제라는 인식을 확산하는 데 큰 역할을 해왔다.

이번 대회는 박완수 경상남도지사, 김진부 경상남도의회의장, 박동식 사천시장, 김현철, 임철규 도의원을 비롯해 자연보호협의회 회원 및 관계공무원, 내빈 등 1,000여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

박완수 도지사는 격려사를 통해 자연보호협의회의 활동에 감사의 뜻을 전하고 “자연을 보호하는 것이 우리 도민들을 보호하고 경남을 보호하는 것”이라며 “경남도는 자연보호를 실천하며 건강하고 지속가능한 환경보전에 힘쓰고, 자연과 사람이 함께 누릴 수 있는 살기 좋은 자연환경을 만드는 데 함께 노력해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
