[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경상남도가 우주항공청과 남해안 우주항공 산업벨트 구축을 위한 협력을 강화하고 우주항공산업진흥원 경남 설립과 국가 우주항공사업에 도내 기업 참여 확대를 정부에 건의했다.

경남도는 7일 도청에서 박일웅 행정부지사가 노경원 우주항공청 차장을 만나 국가 우주항공산업 육성과 지역 산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 협력 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

박 부지사는 면담에서 남해안 우주항공 산업벨트 구축을 위한 핵심 과제를 설명하며 ▲우주항공산업진흥원 경남 설립 ▲차세대 민항기 국제공동개발 및 한국형 저궤도 위성통신망 구축사업에 도내 기업 참여 확대 ▲2026 사천에어쇼 우주항공방위산업전 우주항공청 참여 ▲우주항공청 청사 적기 건립 등을 건의했다.

경남도는 국가 우주항공산업 육성 전략의 실행력을 높이기 위해 항공·위성 제조 거점 조성과 우주항공 소재·부품·장비 산업 육성 등을 전담할 우주항공산업진흥원 설립이 필요하다는 입장을 전달했다. 특히 국내 최대 우주항공산업 집적지이자 우주항공청 소재지인 경남에 진흥원을 설립해야 산·학·연 협력과 현장 중심 정책 추진이 가능하다고 강조했다.

또 정부가 추진하는 차세대 민항기 국제공동개발 사업과 한국형 저궤도 위성통신망 구축사업에 기술력과 생산 기반을 갖춘 도내 기업들이 참여할 수 있도록 우주항공청의 지원도 요청했다.

이와 함께 오는 10월 22일부터 25일까지 열리는 '2026 사천에어쇼 우주항공방위산업전'에 우주항공청이 참여해 산업 중심의 글로벌 행사로 발전시킬 수 있도록 협조를 당부했다.

박일웅 행정부지사는 "우주항공청을 중심으로 남해안 우주항공 산업벨트를 구축하기 위해서는 정부와 지역의 긴밀한 협력이 필수적"이라며 "국가 우주항공산업 육성 정책이 산업 현장에서 실질적인 성과로 이어질 수 있도록 우주항공청과 지속적으로 협력해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
