[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 국립창원대학교와 하동군이 미래 첨단 산업인 '휴먼 피지컬 AI(Human Physical AI)'와 로봇 기술을 매개로 지역 산업의 체질 개선에 나선다.

 

국립창원대는 6일 학내에서 하동군과 ‘Human Physical AI 기반 지역혁신 및 공동협력을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이날 행사에는 박민원 국립창원대 총장과 김현수 하동군수, 강희순 하동군의회 의장 등 양 기관 핵심 관계자들이 대거 참석해 협력 의지를 다졌다.

 

이번 협약은 국립창원대가 보유한 AI·로봇 분야의 독보적인 교육·연구 역량을 하동군의 지역 산업 인프라와 결합해 신산업 동력을 창출하고, 미래형 전문 인재를 양성하기 위해 추진됐다.

 

양 기관은 구체적으로 ▲Human Physical AI 및 로봇 분야 교육·연구 협력 ▲국가전략산업 및 지역특화산업 연계 공동사업 발굴 ▲정부 재정지원사업 및 국가 R&D 공동 추진 ▲산학협력·기업유치·기술사업화 ▲AI 기반 실증(Test-bed) 단지 및 지역혁신 플랫폼 구축 등을 위해 긴밀히 공조하기로 했다.

 

특히 양 측은 이번 협약이 단순한 '양해각서' 교환에 그치지 않도록 실무협의체와 공동 TF를 즉시 가동한다. 이를 통해 국비 확보를 위한 과제 발굴부터 기업 유치, 실증 인프라 연계까지 속도감 있게 추진할 방침이다.

 

박민원 국립창원대 총장은 "대학의 첨단 Human Physical AI 및 로봇 연구 역량이 하동군의 현장 인프라와 결합해 시너지를 낼 것"이라며 "지역 맞춤형 기술 실증과 인재 양성을 통해 지·산·학 상생 발전의 대표 모델을 만들어내겠다"고 밝혔다.
