[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 '2026 조림사업'을 마무리하며 올해 보식을 포함해 60.5ha 규모에 편백과 백합, 상수리나무 등 9만6500본을 심어 미래 산림자원 기반을 조성했다고 4일 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 산림의 공익적 기능을 높이고 탄소흡수원을 확충하기 위해 대상지의 입지와 생육환경을 고려해 적합한 수종을 식재했으며, 경제적·공익적 가치가 높은 건강한 산림 조성에 중점을 뒀다.

시는 조림목의 활착과 생육을 위해 사후관리에도 행정력을 집중하고. 조림 완료 이후 생육상황을 지속적으로 점검, 풀베기 등 조림지 가꾸기 사업을 적기에 실시해 생장률을 높여 나갈 계획이다.

진주시 관계자는 "조림사업은 미래 세대에 건강한 산림을 물려주기 위한 중요한 과제다"며 "지속적인 산림 조성과 체계적인 사후관리를 통해 시민들이 누릴 수 있는 건강한 산림환경을 만들어 가겠다"고 말했다.
