[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 지역 대학(원)생의 학비 부담을 덜기 위해 ‘2026년 하반기 학자금 대출이자 지원사업’ 신청을 오는 8월 3일부터 28일까지 온라인으로 접수한다고 30일 밝혔다.

지원 대상은 본인이 진주시에 주민등록을 두고 있거나 부모(부모가 없는 경우 직계존속)가 1년 이상 진주시에 주민등록을 둔 대학(원) 재학생과 휴학생으로, 한국장학재단 학자금 대출 이용자면 신청할 수 있다.

해당 대상자는 지난 2017년 이후 한국장학재단에서 받은 학자금 대출이며, 2026년 1월 1일부터 6월 30일까지 발생한 대출이자를 지원, 지원금은 대상자 확정 후 한국장학재단 대출 상환 계좌로 직접 상환 처리된다.

신청은 오는 8월 3일부터 28일까지 진주시청 누리집 ‘분야별정보-교육정보-학자금대출지원’ 메뉴에서 온라인으로 가능하며, 지원 결과는 한국장학재단 누리집을 통해 확인할 수 있다.

진주시 관계자는 “청년들이 학비 상환 부담을 덜고 학업에 전념할 수 있도록 체감도 높은 지원 정책을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”며 “지역 청년들의 든든한 버팀목이 되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
