[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 조규일 진주시장은 28일 폭염으로 온열질환자가 늘어남에 따라 상평산업단지 재생사업 건설현장을 찾아 온열질환 예방과 안전사고 방지를 위한 안전수칙 준수 여부를 직접 점검했다고 28일 밝혔다.

시는 폭염 중대경보 발효 이후 재난안전대책본부 비상 2단계를 운영하는 가운데 건설현장의 물·그늘·휴식 제공과 작업시간 조정 등 폭염 대응 기본수칙이 현장에서 제대로 이행되고 있는지를 집중적으로 확인하며 근로자 안전 확보에 힘을 쏟고 있다.

상평산업단지 재생사업은 총사업비 490억원을 투입해 지난 2021년 착공, 오는 10월 준공을 목표로 공사가 진행 중이며, 사업이 완료되면 상평공단의 만성적인 주정차 문제와 교통정체가 크게 개선될 전망이다.

조규일 진주시장은 "최근 폭염은 과거에 경험하지 못한 수준으로 심화되고 있다"며 "야외 작업이 많은 건설현장은 온열질환에 가장 취약한 만큼 현장 관계자와 근로자 모두 예방수칙을 철저히 지켜 안전한 작업환경을 조성해 달라"고 당부했다.
