[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도가 통영을 글로벌 해양레저 관광 거점으로 육성하기 위한 ‘통영 복합해양레저관광도시 조성사업’의 밑그림 구체화에 나섰다.

 

경상남도는 9일 서울에서 ‘통영 복합해양레저관광도시 조성사업’ 제3차 거버넌스 회의를 열고 기본구상안과 브랜드 개발, 요트관광 활성화 방안 등을 집중 논의했다고 밝혔다.

 

이날 회의에는 경남도와 통영시 관계자를 비롯해 민간 투자자, 해양레저·관광·도시계획·건축 분야 전문가, 지역 주민 대표 등 40여 명이 참석했다.

 

참석자들은 도남지구와 도산지구를 중심으로 한 주요 도입시설과 최종 시설계획에 대한 의견을 공유하고, 통영만의 해양관광 정체성을 담을 브랜드(BI) 개발 방향과 해양레저 산업 활성화 전략을 논의했다.

 

특히 종합토론에서는 요트관광 경쟁력 강화와 특화시설 고도화, 민간 투자 유치 확대, 지역 상생 방안 등이 핵심 의제로 다뤄졌다.

 

통영 복합해양레저관광도시 조성사업은 해양수산부 공모사업에 선정된 이후 올해부터 기본계획 수립이 진행되고 있으며, 총사업비 1조1,400억 원이 투입되는 대규모 프로젝트다.

 

사업 대상지는 통영시 도남동과 도산면 일원으로, 요트와 숙박, 해양레저, 관광 콘텐츠를 집적한 복합 해양관광단지로 조성될 예정이다. 경남도는 이를 통해 남해안을 대표하는 해양관광 거점이자 국제 경쟁력을 갖춘 관광도시로 육성한다는 계획이다.

 

김상원 경남도 관광개발국장은 “통영 복합해양레저관광도시는 남해안을 넘어 대한민국 해양관광의 새로운 성장축이 될 사업”이라며 “전문가와 지역사회의 의견을 적극 반영해 완성도 높은 기본계획을 마련하겠다”고 말했다.

 

경남도와 통영시는 이번 회의에서 제시된 의견을 바탕으로 사업계획을 보완한 뒤 글로벌 해양레저 관광도시 조성을 위한 후속 절차를 본격 추진할 방침이다.
