[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 정부 2회 추가경정 예산에서 ‘피지컬AI(경남형 제조 챗-GPT) 개발 시범사업’에 국비 197억 원을 확보했다고 7일 밝혔다. 

 

지역 국회의원의 지원과 경남대, 경남테크노파크, 지역 기업 등과 협업해 이루어낸 쾌거다.

 

이 사업은 ‘삼현’, ‘CTR’ 등 자동차 부품 관련 도내 중견 제조기업 8개 사의 데이터를 수집·실증하고, 본격적인 ‘피지컬 AI’ 개발을 준비하기 위한 시범사업이다. ‘피지컬 AI’ 개발에는 경남대, 서울대, 구글클라우드 코리아 등이 참여한다.

 

‘피지컬 AI’는 인간형 로봇(휴머노이드), 자율주행차 등 하드웨어에 탑재된 인공지능(AI)이 스스로 상황을 인지하고 작업을 수행하는 차세대 인공지능(AI)이다. 엔비디아 최고경영자(CEO) 젠슨 황은 CES 2025에서 ‘피지컬 AI가 제조·물류 산업을 근본적으로 바꿀 50조 달러(한화 약 7경 원) 규모의 시장’이라고 전망했다.

 

경남도는 사람의 개입 없이 인공지능(AI)이 공장을 가동하는 ‘경남형 제조 챗-GPT’ 개발을 위해 지난해 선정된 ‘초거대 제조AI 서비스 개발 사업’('24.~'26. 208억 원)과 이번 정부 추경 사업을 성공적으로 수행하고, 지역 국회의원, 경남대, 경남테크노파크 등과 함께 6천억 원 규모의 피지컬 AI 사업까지 유치할 계획이다.

 

경남도는 ‘제조 AI의 메카, 경상남도’를 목표로, 인공지능(AI) 기업이 모이고, 창업하고, 성장하는 인공지능(AI) 산업 생태계 조성과 주력산업의 인공지능 전환(AX)에 총력을 다하고 있다.

 

이를 수행할 전담부서인 인공지능산업과를 올해 7월 신설, 경상남도 인공지능산업 육성 마스터플랜을 수립 중이다. 

 

부족한 인공지능(AI) 인프라 구축을 위해 국가AI컴퓨팅센터(’25~’30, 2조 원)를 유치하고, 판교 테크노밸리 버금가는 1조 원 규모의 ‘제조AI 혁신밸리’를 2031년까지 조성해 나갈 계획이다.

 

국산 인공지능(AI) 기반의 솔루션을 개발해 도내 중견·중소기업에 지원하는 대·중·소 상생협력사업도 연내 시행한다. 

 

세계 최고 인공지능(AI) 혁신 인재 양성 교육기관 ‘에꼴42’의 프로그램을 도입한 ‘경남 이노베이션 아카데미’(본예타 중, 연 200명 양성)도 내년에 출범해 도내 부족한 인재를 경남에서 육성할 계획이다.

 

윤인국 도 산업국장은 “정부추경 국비 확보로 피지컬AI라는 초격차 미래기술을 경남이 선도할 수 있게 되어 기쁘다.”며 “도내 AI 산업 육성과 이를 기반으로 한 주력산업의 인공지능 전환(AX)을 신속하게 추진하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

 

한편, 경남도는 지난주 국정기획위원회에 방문해 △국가AI컴퓨팅센터 지역 분산 구축 △지역 특화 인공지능 혁신거점 지정 △지방 주도 AI 초격차 기술개발·실증 지원 강화 △지자체 중심, 산·학·연 연계 맞춤형 인공지능(AI) 융합과정 개설 등 인공지능 산업의 균형발전 방안을 건의했다.
