이번 방문은 호국보훈의 달을 맞아, 국가와 지역 안보를 위해 헌신하고 있는 예비군을 격려하고, 무더운 날씨 속에서도 훈련에 임하고 있는 현장을 살펴보기 위해 마련됐다. 

구인모 거창군수는 훈련장을 둘러보며 훈련 여건을 점검하고, 예비군들과 소통의 시간을 갖는 등 현장의 목소리를 청취했다. 

현재 거창군 예비군들은 2023년 군부대 통합 개편에 따라 거창부대가 함양군으로 이전되면서, 인근의 합천 과학화 예비군훈련장에서 훈련을 받고 있다.
