시는 민선 8기 하반기 시정을 시민 불편은 덜고 편익을 더하는 생활밀착행정을 추진해 삶이 행복한 변화된 창원을 만드는 데 중점을 두고 있다.
이를 위해 시는 지난해 초부터 주민 건의 사항을 중심으로 생활밀착형 사업을 발굴해 수 개월간 심도 있는 숙의 과정을 거쳐 내용을 다듬었다.
올해 주민참여예산도 이 사업들에 우선 배정했다. 또 수시로 현장 방문과 주민 간담회 등을 통해 제안받은 사업들도 검토를 거쳐 새로운 사업으로 선정했다. 최근에는 전담팀을 꾸려 사업별 추진 상황과 계획 등에 대한 체계적인 틀을 갖췄다.
